Events Coordinator
Wikimedia District of Columbia is looking for a volunteer Events Coordinator to aid in our outreach, program, and educational efforts.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Is interested in program and event management, ideally with practical experience.
- Is enthusiastic about Wikipedia, Wikimedia, free knowledge, and the nonprofit sector.
- Is self-motivated and entrepreneurial, eager to provide highly valuable assistance to a very young nonprofit organization.
Preference will be given to experienced Wikimedia project contributors, but Wikimedia experience is not required.
The coordinator's duties will include:
- Coordinating the scheduling and organization of Wikimedia DC educational, outreach, and social events.
- Connecting event planners and program staff with volunteers to assist with event setup and logistics.
- Recruiting and maintaining a pool of volunteers that can be called upon to help with specific events as necessary.
This opening is for an unpaid, volunteer staff position, and the coordinator will not receive a salary or stipend; however, approved expenses will be reimbursed. The coordinator will report directly to the Wikimedia DC Board of Directors, and will have an opportunity to gain experience with nonprofit governance processes.

Social Media Coordinator
Wikimedia District of Columbia is looking for a volunteer Social Media Coordinator to aid in our outreach, program, and educational efforts.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Is interested in marketing and public relations, ideally with practical experience.
- Is enthusiastic about Wikipedia, Wikimedia, free knowledge, and the nonprofit sector.
- Is self-motivated and entrepreneurial, eager to provide highly valuable assistance to a very young nonprofit organization.
- Has outstanding and proven writing and communication skills.
Preference will be given to experienced Wikimedia project contributors, but Wikimedia experience is not required.
The coordinator's duties will include:
- Maintaining Wikimedia DC's presence on social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter.
- Recruiting volunteers to write author guest posts on the Wikimedia DC blog.
