|description = '''This event is presented by 500 Women Scientists DC'''. Ada Lovelace Day is an international day to celebrate the contributions of self-identifying women to science, technology, engineering, and math. So to celebrate their achievements, 500 Women Scientists and our allies, as well as the DC Science Writer's Association, are gathering at the West End DC Public Library on Saturday, October 13th to share their work on Wikipedia's pages.

|description = Join us to kick off the University of Maryland’s Disability Awareness Month events with a Wikipedia edit-a-thon. During this event, we will edit and expand Wikipedia articles related to disability. By contributing to Wikipedia, we can help to ensure that its well-trafficked resources provide comprehensive and accurate representations of disability.
While Wikipedia is the fifth most popular website in the world, notching up more than 32 million views a day, less than 18% of its English-language biographies are about women. So in honor of Ada Lovelace—and her contributions to mathematics and computing—we'll work to add more entries to Wikipedia and give you the tools to keep making the Internet less sexist after our Wiki-thon. All you have to do is come armed with a laptop or tablet!

This Wikipedia Edit-a-thon accompanies the exhibition, In the Library: The Evans-Tibbs Archive of African American Art, which showcases the life and work of Thurlow Evans Tibbs Jr., an accomplished art appraiser, broker, collector, and dealer, as well as the founder and director of his eponymous art gallery in Washington, DC. Tibbs is best known for his donation to the Corcoran Gallery of Art, now an important part of the National Gallery’s holdings by African American artists. To support his research, Tibbs amassed approximately more than a thousand reference files comprising more than seventy boxes of material documenting art of the African diaspora. Tibbs opened up his reference collection, now commonly known as the Evans-Tibbs Archive, to artists, students, and scholars. The archive includes correspondence, exhibition pamphlets, gallery records, photographs, and other ephemera that illustrate the history of the Tibbs family, The Evans-Tibbs Collection, and African American art.

|description = Wikimedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity, however, is not. Content is skewed by the lack of female participation. This represents an alarming absence in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

Please register in advance with American University's Washington [https://www.wcl.american.edu/impact/initiatives-programs/pijip/about/ Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP)]. The sign-up link shows the program in detail.
Let’s change that. Join us for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, as well as reference materials, coffee and lunch. Bring your laptop, power cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. People of all gender identities and expressions are invited to participate.

Wikimedia DC will have a table there to make materials available and talk with attendees for the first hour. If you have suggestions for the table please contact peter.meyer@wikidc.org.

We will focus of those whose collections are now housed in the AFC archive. Activities will be centered at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, but off-site participation is encouraged. Feel free to sign in and edit at any time on the 14th for our edit-a-thon (even outside of our time frame) - as long as you sign in on the event page (directions for signing in are on the event page itself)before you start editing we will be able to track our engagement and impact. We will have an Ethernet Pad set up so folks signing in can share who they're working on, and so we can ensure that we're not creating multiple drafts for the same folks. You will also be able to use it for questions and assistance.
Lunch will be provided.

|description = In 2015, the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art conducted an assessment of its collection and ascertained that only 11% of the named artists in its collection self-identified as women. As part of its Women’s Initiative, this number has been increased to 22%. But did you know that only 18% of articles on English-language Wikipedia are about women? Help to change that by joining us for the National Museum of African Art’s African Women Artists Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. We will work together to increase the presence of African women artists on Wikipedia by improving existing articles and creating new ones. This event includes a curator-led tour of the exhibition, I Am… Contemporary Women Artists of Africa.

The National Agricultural Library(NAL), one of the world's largest agricultural research libraries, was established as part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1862, by Abraham Lincoln. The library was originally located at the headquarters building of the USDA until centralization of the library, and it's vast collections outgrew the Washington D.C. space. In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson authorized an appropriation which enabled the Library to move and build a new 14-story building on site at the Henry A. Wallace Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) in Beltsville,MD.

|description = Did you know that Wikipedia is an openly editable resource, meaning that anyone can improve the quality and accuracy of Wikipedia entries? Data has shown that less than 18% of biographies on English-language Wikipedia are about women. Help to change that by joining us on March 28 for the museum's Women Fiber Artists Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. Attendees will learn how to edit Wikipedia and work together to improve and create Wikipedia articles about women fiber artists.
|description = Join the American Folklife Center on February 8th for a Edit-A-Thon to expand the online presence of women who documented the world. This event is part of its multi-year initiative to highlight, explore, and celebrate the contributions of women as ethnographic fieldworkers and scholars and call attention to the instrumental role of women in establishing many of the seminal collections that now enrich the AFC archive and ethnographic archives throughout the world. During the Edit-A-Thon, we plan to add and/or expand entries for approximately 25-30 women, both historic and contemporary, who documented traditional culture. We will focus of those whose collections are now housed in the AFC archive. Activities will be centered at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, but off-site participation is encouraged. AFC staff will be on hand to assist on-site and off-site researchers and provide archival materials.
