This report describes the activities of Wikimedia District of Columbia from October 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014.
Editing events
Wikimedia DC held three editing events with three organizations in the first quarter:
- The Human Origins Edit-a-Thon with the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History on October 17;
- An Art+Feminism Edit-a-Thon with the American University Library on November 1; and
- My First Edit: DC Neighborhoods with the DC Public Library on November 19.
Thirteen people participated at the Human Origins Edit-a-Thon, changing 9,577 bytes of content on Wikipedia. Participants made 26 edits to eight articles, including Rick Potts, Human Origins Program, Shanidar Cave, and Neanderthal genome project.
At the Art+Feminism edit-a-thon at American University, five participants made 31 edits to 10 articles, including Alice Baber, Deborah Willis, Emma Amos, and May Howard Jackson. In total, 6,998 bytes were added or removed.
