Becoming a member of Wikimedia DC is one of the easiest and most effective ways you can support our charitable mission; the support of our members plays a crucial role in our ability to advance the collection, development, and dissemination of educational content.
Membership is open to anyone! There are no prerequisites or requirements; while many of of our members are experienced participants of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia project, others have never contributed. We welcome members from the DC region and from around the world.
Membership dues are currently $10 per year, covering a period from September 1 to August 31; members who join after March 1 are eligible for reduced dues of $5 for the remainder of the year.
- Make a difference. Your membership dues provide critical funding for our educational and outreach programs, and your support will have a real impact on our ability to carry out our charitable work.
- Be part of a global movement. Wikimedia DC is a chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation and part of a family of charities that includes dozens of chapters across the world; our work is part of an international effort to further the advancement of free knowledge and culture.
- Guide our future direction. Our members elect the Board of Directors, approve our operating budget, and set strategic priorities for our work. All members are invited to attend our annual membership meeting and have the right to vote on all business carried out at the meeting.
