Some of these requirements are more necessary than others...
We will need a few computers, though some of the devices like scanners could also be connected to laptops that people bring in perhaps.
- Live CDs
We might be able to create Ubuntu Live-CDs with the required software for the various modules. This would make it easy to bring in a handful of computers for a workshop and get them up and running quickly. A live CD would also be a useful component of the modules themselves, making them easily replicable elsewhere.

- project members:
- Patrick Timony - accessibility - Adaptive Services has scanners and some tools for creating accessible formats. We also can help with captioning videos.
- add your name...
- computer or laptop
- best if people can bring in own laptops or library has computers, but otherwise a portable but higher performance laptop like [1] ($559) would be useful. Or if we want the module to not be ultra portable, then a desktop machine would work.
- external hard drive
- portable external hard drive ($111) [2] - for copying non-copyrighted videos, audio, ...
- video camera for capturing stories
- portable audio recorder, also for recording stories
- video capture hardware
- blank CDs, DVDs and or flash drives...
- software (open source)
- Roxio (for old home movies on VHS) http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/easy-vhs-to-dvd/mac/overview.html?rTrack=b_easyvhsmac $80 (is there an open source equivalent that's just as good/easy-to-use?)
- Roxio (audio cassettes to digital) http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/easy-lp-to-mp3/standard/overview.html $70 (any open source equivalent?)
- Note: demonstrating a process using Roxio or other non-free software that is easy is okay, though we should also document a process using open source, free software (on windows and/or ubuntu?).
- capture methods for ubuntu
- audacity (audio editing)

Photo scanning module

- project members:
- Patrick Timony - accessibility - Adaptive Services has scanners and some tools for creating accessible formats. We can also help with labeling digital images.

- computer
- best if people can bring in own laptops or library has computers, but otherwise a portable but higher performance laptop like [3] ($559) would be useful. Or if we want the module to not be ultra portable, then a desktop machine would work.
- external hard drive
- portable external hard drive ($111) [4]
- scanner
- flatbed scanner, portable if possible yet high quality
- e.g. Canoscan LiDe 100 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-LiDE100-Color-Scanner-2923B002/dp/B001DJDGXA $100 (fits in laptop case)
- adaptive services or other parts of the library already have flatbed scanners that probably would work just fine.
- DIY photo scanner
- flatbed scanner, portable if possible yet high quality
- software
- gimp (image editing)
Book scanning module
Note: We'd probably not focus on this, at least not in the short-term, given the volunteer capacity.

- add your name ...
- project members:
- Patrick Timony - accessibility - Adaptive Services has scanners and some tools for creating accessible formats.
- add your name...
- computer
- best if people can bring in own laptops or library has computers, but otherwise a portable but higher performance laptop like [5] ($559) would be useful. Or if we want the module to not be ultra portable, then a desktop machine would work.
- external hard drive
- portable external hard drive ($111) [6]
- book scanner
Mapping module
We'd seek funding from OSM-related source for this:

- computer
- best if people can bring in own laptops or library has computers, but otherwise a portable but higher performance laptop like [7] ($559) would be useful. Or if we want the module to not be ultra portable, then a desktop machine would work.
- printer - for walking papers / maps
- gps device - nice to have
Other modules?
- add here
Other
- a mini / portable projector for presentations, meetups, hackathons and other events in the space
