Current approved budget
- Compensation: $12,500 ($2,500/month for May through September; based on standard pay for a field organizer)
- Travel budget: $2,010 ($402/trip for five trips; average trip cost calculated based on a two-day (one-night) trip to Memphis, which is in the geographic center of the outreach region)
- Prizes: $1,950 ($950 for individuals, $1,000 for institutional prize)
- Total: $16,460
Proposed new budget
- Compensation: $22,500 ($4,500/month for May through September; based on research by WMF regarding the pay for field organizers in DC)
- Travel budget: $4,875 ($975/trip for five trips. The cost per trip is a mean estimate, including flying through a city's airport, four nights' stay at a hotel, four days M&IE at 75% GSA rates, and $140 to cover car rental and gas. The cost of an individual trip can vary significantly based on the plan developed by the project manager. An average cost was calculated based on 36 cities in the target region. Travel is covered by the Travel Policy.)
- Prizes: $1,950 ($950 for individuals, $1,000 for institutional prize)
- Entertainment: $400 ($40 per meal for 10 meals. Including meals with host institutions in the target region and in DC as needed. Entertainment is covered by the Travel Policy.)
- Total: $29,725
Action item
Technically, only the revised compensation figure requires formal Board approval. However, input is welcome on the rest of the budget, since the Board provided input on the original budget.
Some resolution language, if you like:
- Resolution No. 4.B6.7 regarding the Project Manager for Wikipedia Summer of Monuments is amended by striking "$2,500" in Paragraph 3 and inserting "$4,500" in its place.
