- Missed connections
- The first Smithsonian contribution to Wikipedia may have been w:File:PcRasmussen.jpg, a picture of Pamela C. Rasmussen taken by Craig Ludwig, Scientific Data Manager of Birds and Mammals, the Division of Birds, NMNH. A Wikipedian emailed him to ask for the image to be relicensed, and he did so, logging it in the OTRS system.
- In April 2012, Hirshhorn staff emailed the general Wikimedia Foundation contact address (info@wikimedia.org) to ask for Wikimedia to partner with the museum on the high-profile upcoming Ai Weiwei exhibit. A volunteer forwarded that message on to a WMF staffer (the head of mobile) who did not respond, and the local Wikipedian community in DC never found out about the Hirshhorn's interest.
- A research associate at the NMAH's National Numismatic Collection has been quietly digitizing the paper currency collection and uploading the images to Wikimedia Commons and creating Wikipedia articles with them. He has uploaded about 200 images, dozens of which are featured, valued, or quality images.

- w:Wikipedia:GLAM/Smithsonian Institution/Articles for creation was a nice idea from the community, but it is mostly directed at either objects which may not be notable or SI-related topics. Can our units prepare lists of (notable) missing topics?
- w:Wikipedia:GLAM/Smithsonian_Institution/Members#Members_directly_affiliated_with_the_Smithsonian is an exciting list, and we should probably be utilizing it more (as well as recording others who are interested but haven't listed themselves publicly on Wikipedia).
- WP:GLAM/SIA and WP:GLAM/AAA... Should we encourage more of these, or a more central presence?
- Is SIA watched?
