Wikipedia is an openly editable resource, meaning that you can improve the quality and accuracy of Wikipedia entries. As one of the web’s most visited reference sites, Wikipedia serves as a starting point for visitors who want to learn more about a variety of topics.
Join us at the Bureau of Land Management for a National Rivers and Trails Editing Workshop. Attendees will learn to edit and create articles about national rivers and trails. Experienced Wikipedians will be on hand to provide training and guidance.

Have you ever wondered how scientists make our food supply safer, more nutritious, more abundant, and more sustainable? Learn more while improving the accuracy and quality of online information about sustainability in food and agriculture as a participant in a Wikipedia edit-a-thon!
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (USDA ARS) and Wikimedia DC invite Wikipedians of all levels of experience to participate in this Farm-to-Fork Sustainability Edit-a-thon. Topics will include plant and animal production, pest management, bioproducts, and agroecosystem conservation practices. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to meet ARS scientists, librarians, and data science experts. They will also learn more about resources available through ARS and its National Agricultural Library.
About your hosts: ARS is USDA’s chief scientific in-house research agency, with more than 90 locations throughout the United States and overseas. The agency’s research spans crop and animal production and protection, natural resource management, food safety and quality, and nutrition. Wikimedia DC is the regional outreach organization for Wikipedia and other projects of the Wikimedia Foundation, promoting participation on Wikimedia projects throughout the United States. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. Lunch will be provided.

This workshop will bring together DIY biologists and makers from across the DC area with experienced Wikipedians. Learn about emerging technologies like synthetic biology, nanotechnology, robotics, and more! Afterwards, we'll teach you how to improve Wikipedia articles on science and engineering topics of your choice.
As the web’s most visited reference site, Wikipedia is a starting point for both scientists and non-scientists to learn about technology topics. Wikipedia is openly editable, meaning that you can improve the quality and accuracy of Wikipedia entries. During this training, you will learn the basics of how to edit Wikipedia articles, and practice these skills with experienced Wikipedians.

Getting to Know Your Archdiocese: A Wikipedia Editing Workshop

Join us at the Catholic Information Center as we gather to edit articles on parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington in honor of the Feast of St. Jerome, patron saint of translators, librarians, and encyclopedists. There is a rich institutional history of the Catholic Church here in the Archdiocese dating all the way back to John Carroll, the first Bishop and Archbishop in the United States. Our goal is to make that history known on the world's largest online encyclopedia.
Attendees will learn to edit Wikipedia and use online and print sources to update related Wikipedia articles. Experienced Wikipedians will be on hand to provide training and guidance. There will also be some librarians available to help with research.
Laptops are required; please bring your own. Wikimedia has two laptops to loan. Reserve one by emailing info@wikimediadc.org. New editors are strongly encouraged to create a Wikipedia account before the day of the event.
