The Board of Directors of Wikimedia DC is assisted by a number of standing, special, and advisory committees, each of which is responsible for a specific area of the organization's business. The members of each committee are appointed by the Board, and each committee reports to the Board during its regular meetings.

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee is a standing committee; its responsibilities include:

  • Conducting an annual review of the financial records of Wikimedia DC

The Audit Committee currently consists of three members:

  • Matthew Bisanz [Chair]
  • Kirill Lokshin
  • Tiffany L. Smith

Election Committee

The Election Committee is a standing committee; its responsibilities include:

  • Organizing the annual election of the Board of Directors
  • Ensuring the eligibility of candidates, preparing ballots, and counting votes

The Election Committee currently consists of three members:

  • John Broughton
  • Kirill Lokshin [Chair ex officio as Secretary]
  • Dan Rosenthal

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee is an advisory committee to the Board of Directors; its responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Board on fundraising matters relevant to the mission or business of Wikimedia DC
  • Assisting the Board in preparing grant applications and other solicitation materials on behalf of Wikimedia DC
  • Assisting the Board in soliciting funds on behalf of Wikimedia DC

The Fundraising Committee currently consists of five members:

  • Kristin Anderson
  • Nicholas Bashour
  • Katie Filbert
  • James Hare [Chair ex officio as Treasurer]
  • Peter Meyer

Governance Committee

The Governance Committee is an advisory committee to the Board of Directors; its responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Board on legal and governance matters relevant to the mission or business of Wikimedia DC
  • Assisting the Board in preparing and reviewing policies, contracts, and other legal documents

The Governance Committee currently consists of four members:

  • Kevin Chen
  • Kirill Lokshin [Chair]
  • Dan Rosenthal
  • Kat Walsh

Grants Committee

The Grants Committee is an advisory committee to the Board of Directors; its responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Board on grant-making matters relevant to the mission or business of Wikimedia DC
  • Assisting the Board in reviewing grant applications submitted to Wikimedia DC

The Grants Committee currently consists of one member:

  • James Hare [Chair ex officio as Treasurer]

Technology Committee

The Technology Committee is an advisory committee to the Board of Directors; its responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Board on technology matters relevant to the mission or business of Wikimedia DC
  • Assisting the Board of Directors in maintaining the technical infrastructure of Wikimedia DC

The Technology Committee currently consists of three members:

  • Jeremy Baron
  • Katie Filbert [Chair]
  • Chad Horohoe
