Wikimedia DC collaborates with cultural institutions, including galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMS), to promote free knowledge and support digitization and open access projects.

Collaborative activities include Wikipedia editing workshops, edit-a-thons, and longer-term content creation initiatives. Cultural partners are invited to

Editing workshops: Virtual or in-person sessions where new editors learn to edit Wikipedia and engage with Wikimedia projects

Edit-a-thons: Virtual or in-person sessions where editors create or improve content related to particular themes, exhibitions, etc. Themeless or broad-themed 'thons are also welcomed. Training for new editors is always provided. Edit-a-thons allow constituents and/or site staff to share stories, materials, and collections with the world.

Content drives: Longer-term initiatives during which interns, staff, or others aim to fill content gaps beyond a one or two day editing event. These can include editing activities, mass uploads to Wikimedia Commons, and/or the creation of Wikidata items.
