The conference is co-hosted by Wikimedia DC and the National Archives and Records Administration, which reflects the two organizations' shared commitment to embracing diversity in the global knowledge movement. - SEPTEMBER 1, 2013: Wikimedia District of Columbia has launched Wiki Loves Monuments USA, a month-long photography contest. Wiki Loves Monuments USA is part of the international Wiki Loves Monuments contest, certified by Guinness World Records for two consecutive years as the world's largest photography contest. - Congressional Cemetery becomes the world's largest outdoor encyclopedia of American history
- JULY 2, 2012: The 205-year-old Congressional Cemetery in Washington is now the world’s largest outdoor encyclopedia of American history. While touring the grounds, visitors may call up an article from Wikipedia on, for example, the life of John Philip Sousa by scanning a QR code (Quick Response code) with their smartphones.
