Smithsonian's Archives of American Art, Washington, DC

Description of purpose

Please tell us a little about the project or activity for which you are requesting funding. Please provide enough detail to allow us to evaluate how your request aligns with our charitable mission.

(5) What is the purpose for which the funding will be used?

We are hosting an all day meetup/training/edit-a-thon at the Archives of American Art on March 29, 2013 in honor of Women's History Month. It is organized by the Smithsonian in conjunction with the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The event will from 10:00-5:00, so we would like to be able to include coffee and a catered lunch for up to 25 Wikimedians and new/aspiring editors.

(6) How does this purpose align with our mission?

This is an outreach event that promotes cultivation of new/existing editors, and deepened relationships between Wikimedians and the GLAM community. The lunch is a way of thanking the volunteers for giving their time and contributing to the GLAM-Wiki project.

$370 for assorted sandwiches and chips/carrots, drinks, and cookies from Cosi 12th and G St NW, Washington, DC, and for 2 coffee travelers from Starbucks.

Cosi Signature Sandwich Basket, $8.89/person x 25 people = $225

Cosi Lemonade ($20) and Iced Tea ($15) = $35

Cosi small cookie & fruit platter = $49

Starbucks coffee travelers x 2 - $28

TOTAL: 337 + 10% tax = $370
